Breakout Sessions:

Tips and Tricks for Preschool Engagement: This breakout will be focusing on how we can keep preschool age children engaged in our Sunday morning programming or other events we may have in the church. We will focus on why we need to build relationships and why play is important in how our children learn and stay engaged. We will also have some practical tips on how to manage a room, set up a classroom, and activities/ resources that can be added to your morning

Tips & Tricks for Elementary Engagement: We all want our lessons to be engaging, relevant and fun, but how do we get there? Whether you are working with a small group of 10 year old’s, or a large group of 6 year old’s, engagement can be tricky! Join us as we discuss ways to captivate your elementary group (whether big or small, multi-aged or grade-alike), and talk about fun, practical ways to involve your students along the way.

Partnering with Parents: Kids Min workers are not alone in the faith development of a child. Rather, we are meant to walk alongside families in our churches as they support their children in their spiritual development. In this session, Jessica will present practical ideas that enhance parent engagement in ways that create strong relationships and have a positive impact on a child’s holistic development. Kids Min workers will spend the first part of this hour understanding the theoretical underpinnings of what it means to authentically partner with parents. In the second half, we’ll have the opportunity to gather some new ideas as well as re-imagine current practices to foster programming that honours parents as spiritual partners.

Children’s Ministry in the Small/Rural Church: Melissa and Damaris will talk about what children’s ministry can look like in a small, rural setting and how partnering together benefits both churches and the community. We will also talk about some of the challenges facing small churches and ways to maximize the benefits of being in a rural setting.

10 Keys to reaching and discipling today’s Kids: Being a child is much different than when we were children.  Childhood has changed.  If we are going to reach today’s kids, there are 10 things you need to keep in mind. In this breakout we will look at the 10 keys to reaching todays kids.

How to teach like Jesus: We know what Jesus taught.  But have you looked at HOW Jesus taught?  In this session, we will see how Jesus taught and learn from the Master Teacher how to effectively teach today’s children and families.
